INTERIOR - CEILING PAINTING
Are you wanting to freshen up your ceilings with new paint but don't know the steps to take? Follow these steps for professional results.
The first thing you will need to do is assess the area to be painted.
It is important to find out what is on your ceilings so you know what type of coating to apply. If you have smooth painted ceilings, spanish style, or knockdown, you will be able to paint with an acrylic coating.
If you have snow text or stipple ceilings you myust use an oil based paint such as fresh texture by general paint. After you have assessed all of this and have concluded what type of paint is required you can proceed with prepping.Step 2.
The first thing you will want to do when prepping your ceilings is to drop your lights down or cover with poly
Ceiling fans are a little tricky but with extra care you can protect them from over spray. Next you will want to make sure all pictures are off your walls and all furniture is moved to the centre of the room. Once this is done you will drape poly over all furniture and make sure to secure breakables.
The next step is to make sure there are drop sheets covering the entire floor in the area needing to be sprayed. After all this the prep is finally complete.Step 4.
The next step will be to prime and load your spray machine with the appropriate coating/paint. Make sure at this point to be waring all protective equipment including but not limited to a Respirator mask that is approved for the coating you're spraying, protective eyeware, and gloves.
If you're not wearing painting clothes then do so at this time. Painting ceilings can be very rewarding if done right. When the paint sprayer is ready to go and all protective gear is on you will start spraying, the tip size should be at least 415 to get maximum paint coverage.
For the first coat, spray from one side to the next until full coverage has been achieved, on the second coat change directions.
After you are satisfied with the painting of you're ceiling do a complete clean of your machine and remove all used poly. Clean all drop sheets for your next painting job and voila you are hopefully looking at a brilliant job.If you have any troubles on the way don't hesitate to call your Edmonton painting professionals at Genoa Coatings
